Over the course of the exhibition, a text in four parts unfolded in the form of layered floor plans of sorts. Building a record of the exhibition, rather than announcing what the show is about beforehand, the text was written by Dieuwertje Hehewerth, Tim Mathijsen, Tirza Kater, and Jason Hendrik Hansma.
Jason’s first chapter at Marwan (Untitled, drafts, 2022) slipped, spilled, split in and through the space. Now coming back to crop and cover, moving between straight lines and liquid spills. This is Jason’s second chapter in a series of installations exploring in-between moments in a programme that is undulating between going and slowing, sometimes coming to a pause.
This year, Marwan slides between activity and rest in variations—exhibitions slide to ends, come back to a break, a pause, a rest. In this landscape, this chapter ebbs, marking a moment between movements and yet precisely in which direction is unclear. Is the tide coming in or going out, and how close do we have to stand to see its movement?
